Somerset West estate makes sure the lights will stay on

Mzuri offers luxury, off-the-grid living

The residents of Mzuri, a new residential estate in Somerset West, will not be left in the dark during load shedding, thanks to the developer’s forward-thinking investment in alternative energy options. Basic electricity is supplied by the City of Cape Town but every resident will have the option to install either a solar PV array or battery pack. Furthermore, a state-of-the-art effluent reticulation system provides free irrigation water to all of the homes and common property, ensuring a lush green landscape all year round.

“While green features in developments have become the norm, out of necessity, the level of commitment to ensuring that residents are able to live almost independent of the municipal grid is particularly striking on Mzuri. Lazercor Developments has invested heavily in the sustainable features of this development, which will have broad appeal further enhanced by the range of property types on offer,” says Louise Varga, Pam Golding Properties area manager for the Helderberg.

Mzuri offers a combination of freestanding homes, townhouses and modern apartments, with modular architectural plans that give flexibility to upscale. “The beauty of Mzuri is undoubtedly in the detail that is evident throughout the estate – from the upmarket residential offering to the beautifully landscaped surroundings and impressive communal clubhouse with its sparkling 12-metre indoor pool.”

The estate comprises 68 single and double-storey homes, with two or three bedrooms. These north-living homes start at R2.395 million. Thirty two modern townhouses, starting at R1 895 million, and 136 apartments, ranging between 48m² and 90m² in size, starting from R 1 195 million, have been designed with privacy in mind, offer high-speed fibre connectivity and all of which are fitted with state-of -the-art SMEG appliances.

“Pam Golding Properties is delighted to be the exclusive agent marketing and selling properties on this estate, working with Lazercor Developments,” says Varga. Construction has already started on the first phase of the project, with DP2 civil engineering contracted to do the roads and services. Completion is scheduled for mid-2021, and it is now possible to visit a show house on the site to see just what this development will have to offer.”

Perfectly positioned in Somerset West, Mzuri offers sweeping ocean views, and views of Table Mountain in the distance. The estate has been designed to make full use of the unique surroundings, with walking paths and running tracks throughout. Fitness equipment will also be available along these routes, as well as green play areas. Ideal for sundowners and social events, the clubhouse will provide shared workspace with meeting and conference facilities, as well as high-speed internet connectivity. There will also be an early childhood development centre on the estate. Access to Mzuri is strictly controlled with biometric technology.

Located on the popular Helderberg Wine Route, Mzuri is surrounded by world-renowned wine farms, and the beaches at Strand and Gordon’s Bay are nearby. There is also easy access to the national road and Cape Town International Airport. It is also well-placed within reach of a range of amenities, including shopping centres such as Vergelegen Plein. The Advanced Health Day Hospital and planned Sub Acute Hospital and medical suites are adjacent to the estate, and there are excellent public and private schools nearby.

“With accelerated investment in this area, we are also seeing increased commercial activity, and developments that offer a country lifestyle, close to business hubs or with the option to work from home, are particularly sought after,” says Katya Varga, assistant branch manager for the Helderberg.
