St Francis Bay United FC U15 team in their brand new kit, with at the back coach Misixole Qekema, Richard Arderne and Matt Davis.
Matt founded the Sport for Youth Soccer Academy, a community upliftment project to create a safe sporting environment for the youth of Sea Vista Township. His motivation is to teach them discipline and skills through sport.
He has been running this for over a year now, with 50 boys, from U/13 to U/19, with three local coaches. They train three times a week on the field opposite the petrol station: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 3:30pm to 5:30pm. Come and watch!
Matt is keen to find a better field, and has been offered some funding for this.
They play matches on weekends against teams from Humansdorp and Jeffreys Bay.
Matt says the boys are showing good discipline on and off the field, and their soccer skills are continuously improving.
The main funders have been the Village Square Shopping Centre and SuperSpar, who have assisted with training equipment and a sandwich and fruit for every player after every training session. Pam Golding Properties, Build-It and Nexus Yachts are now also sponsoring.
With more funding Matt can improve this program. If you would like to donate:
