A new addition to this year’s celebration is the Father Christmas & Kids Fun Fair where younger children can meet “Santa” and join in festive games. Parents are welcome to bring a gift for their child (marked with their name), hand it to an organiser and Father Christmas will hand over their present.

If you are so inclined, please bring along your unwanted, pre-loved toys which will be distributed to underprivileged children in our community. Drop-offs can also be done before-hand, at the Pam Golding Properties Hermanus or Onrus offices.

Attendees can look forward to multi-talented saxophonist, Debi Best, who was trained at the Royal College of Music in London, has performed internationally, and played with the 3 Tenors – Pavarotti, Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras, amongst others. She has also performed for Nelson Mandela, Sir Richard Branson and Prime Minister Tony Blair.

This will be followed with a nativity pageant, produced and directed by René Dewar. Here, a narrator tells the story of the birth of Christ, with performers enacting the scenes and carols sung by a choir – and spectators joining in. The music will be provided by the Musical Director, Rev. Bevan Sylvester from the United Church.

In an ongoing effort to “go green”, the programme and song sheet will be digitally-accessed when buying your ticket. This means no paper song sheets and no candles/glowsticks. The evening will crescendo into a grand finale of the “Hermanus Wave” – a moment when all the lights are switched off to illuminate the glow of the audience’s cell phone lights moving back and forth, to the beautiful tune of “Silent Night”. *Tip: remember to charge your phones.

Bring your picnic basket with drinks, snacks and a blanket – the hymn sheet lyrics will also be cast on big screens to prompt you with the words. A tent will cover the stage to cater for unforeseen weather conditions and ensure that “the show goes on”. In case of loadshedding, there will be a generator to ensure that the festivities carry on seamlessly.

This event is made possible for the community, by the community.

A heartfelt thank you to our partners, Rotary Club of Hermanus, for organising this spectacular fundraising event and for the wonderful work they do for the community. Proceeds will go to their School Vision Screening project and towards building a Bursary Fund for the Overstrand Learning Hub.

This event is proudly sponsored by Pam Golding Properties Hermanus, Hermanus Camino, Mobicred, Bossa Hermanus, Coastal Trusses and Pegasus Risk and Security.
